Patrick A. Bowmaster Papers
This collection consists of papers that Patrick A. Bowmaster wrote for his graduate classes at Virginia Tech. Among these papers is an edited transcript of the diary of Jasper Hawse (1835-1905), an American Civil War soldier born in Hardy County, Virginia. The collection also includes a paper about Emanuel Stance, the first African American to win the Congressional Medal of Honor for action in the post-Civil War period.
James A. Branch Collection

The collection includes the diary of Charles H. Bushee, Company E, 112the Regiment, New York Infantry, 1863. Includes entries on actions of the 112th Regiment in and around Norfolk and Suffolk, Virginia, and Charleston, South Carolina.
Thomas C. Chase Civil War Diary
This collection contains the American Civil War diary of Lieutenant Thomas C. Chase, 26th Michigan Infantry, Commending Ambulance Corps, 1st Division, 2nd Corps. The diary includes 26 pages of entries from December 1864 through March 1865, mostly while he was in charge of the ambulance corps. Entries contain war news, camp life, records of letters to and from home, and some names and addresses in the back.
Civil War Diary
This collection contains a photocopy of a diary from the American Civil War belonging to an unidentified soldier. The contents of the diary were written between 1862 and 1863 and describes what life was like for the author during the war. The author might have been in the calvary and also mentions several Generals and Officers that he served under. The author does not specifically mention any battles that he fought in.
Charles E. Clark Journal
The Charles E. Clark Journal consists of a journal in which Clark gives a brief account of his daily activities during 1894.
Alva Cleveland Diary,
The collection contains the diary of Alva Cleveland, a 57-year-old soldier who served as an orderly with the 1st Regiment, Wisconsin Infantry. The diary covers March to July 1862 while Cleveland's regiment was stationed around Nashville, Tennessee, and in northern Alabama.
Edwin R. Coghill Collection
The collection contains the Civil War memoir of Sergeant Edwin R. Coghill of Company E ("Caroline Greys"), 30th Virginia Infantry, together with a post-war company roster, and a 1970 booklet commemorating a memorial service for General Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson at Bethel Baptist Church and containing a transcript of Coghill's memoir.
