Coal Mining Photograph Album of the Virginias
This photograph album includes images of coal mining operations and related industries within West Virginia and Virginia.
Joseph Coats, Jr., Reward Announcement,
The collection consists of a handwritten announcement regarding an enslaved person that ran away from the Cuckooville neighborhood of Louisa County, Virginia. Dated August 3, 1840, this letter describes in detail -- including physical characteristics and temperament -- the escaped 18-year-old named Sam. The author of this document, Joseph Coats Jr., presumably Sam's enslaver, offers a ten dollar reward for his capture.
Theophilus Cocke Letter
The collection includes a letter from Theophilus Cocke, veteran of the Mexican War, to Dr. Brancomb Cabble, the Commissioner of Pensions, asking for the benefits provided by the Service Pension Bill of 1907.

The Coffee Family Land Grant is for 730 acres in Montgomery County, Virginia, signed by James Monroe as governor of Virginia to Robert, James, and Samuel Coffee.
Georgia Dunn Coggin Letters
Georgia Dunn Coggin (1888-1960) was a resident of Wichita, Kansas, and Virginia. The collection contains letters to and from Coggin from 1910 to 1960, primarily with her husband William and her friend Lillie Goddard. The content of all of the letters mainly concerns daily life, family matters, children, husbands, illnesses, and deaths.
George T. Coleman Correspondence
The George T. Coleman Correspondence is comprised of two letters written by Coleman in Ringgold, Virginia, on July 16, 1866. The first was written to Coleman's brother, William D. Coleman in Richmond, Virginia, and details his effort to aquire enough money to attend VMI, as well as other updates regarding things such as crops and relatives. The second letter was written to Major General F. H. Smith confriming Coleman's appointment at VMI.

Thomas W. Colley Collection,
The Thomas W. Colley Collection contains correspondence, financial documents, such as ledgers, receipts, and deeds, temperance society sermons, electoral cards, a Veteran's Meeting minute book, Civil War reminiscences, and a roll for the First Virginia Company D Volunteer Cavalry's wounded and dead for 1861. The majority of the collection dates from 1860 to 1920.
