This historical map of Wythe County, Virginia, was compiled from maps, historical records, and traditions by J. R. Hildebrand. It contains a brief history of the county surrounding the map, and on the map are identified locations for incidents of historical interest. The map is bordered by a list of names of men who, presumably, lived in the county. The bottom left corner contains a map of smaller scale, so one can find Wythe County in wouthwestern Virginia.

Full title reads: "A Survey of the Northern Neck of Virginia, Being the Lands Belonging to the Rt. Honorable Thomas Lord Fairfax Baron Cameron, Bounded by and Within the Bay of Chesapoyocke and Between the Rivers Rappahannock and Potowmack with: The Courses of the Rivers Rappahannock and Potowmack, in Virginia as Surveyed According to Order in the Years 1736 and 1737."
