Kelley Papers include correspondence, notes, drafts and offprints of publications, teaching materials, and research reports from 1948-1988 documenting the career of Kelley (1926-1988), an aerospace engineer and authority on flight optimization. Abstract

This collection contains materials related to Hugh P. and Ethel C. Kelly, including a scrapbook, portrait, Telstar artifact, and a medal. Hugh P. Kelly earned a bachelor's and master's degree in engineering from Virginia Tech in 1937 and 1938. He worked on the Telstar project in the 1960s, and Mrs. Kelly later established the Hugh P. and Ethel C. Kelly Professorship in the VT College of Engineering.

Abstract

The Christopher C. Kraft Papers consists of approximately 28 cu. ft. of manuscripts, particularly NACA and NASA reports and documents, meeting notes and agendas, and research materials. A later donation contains the manuscript for 2001 Kraft's autobiography. Kraft (1924-2019) graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech) in 1944 and went on to become NASA's first flight director and the director of the Johnson Space Center.

Abstract This collection consists of seven videotapes recorded at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (or Virginia Tech) in August 1991. The tapes contain interviews with six nuclear pioneers: Sigvard Eklund, Bertrand Goldschmidt, Robert E. Marshak, Glenn T. Seaborg, Gerald F. Tape, and Herbert F. York. Abstract

This collection consists of two audiocassette tapes containing the proceedings of the Virginia Tech Space Business Symposium, "Space: The Final Frontier for U.S. Business," on March 27, 1992. The symposium was Virginia Tech's first on short-term profits, research and development, and U.S. competitiveness. Panelists discuss the commercialization of space technologies and the business potential for Virginia.
