The collection contains information gathered by Lieutenant Colonel John A. Coulter II while he was researching the life and military service of Richard T. Shea, Jr. The materials include biographical information about Shea from the 1940's and 1950's and writings from the second half of the 20th century about him and the Battle of Pork Chop Hill.

The Antoine Gaujot and Julien E. Gaujot Papers contains the papers of two brothers who both attended Virginia Tech and received the U. S. Medal of Honor. The collection includes articles, correspondence, military documents, and research from about 1840-1999.

Scope and Contents Comprising the majority of the Earl D. Gregory collection are military records and files dating back to when Gregory was a member of the 1st Virginia, 29th Regiment during World War I. This material consists of publications and correspondence pertaining to Gregory's infantry unit, more specifically Gregory's impact during his first day of combat at Bois-de-Consenvoye, France in which Gregory was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his heroic actions. Abstract Jimmie W. Monteith, Jr. (1919-1944) was a Lieutenant in the U. S. Army during World War II. He served his country bravely and was killed on the beaches of Normandy during the D-Day invasion of 1944. He was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. Born in Columbus, Ohio, moved to South Charleston, West Virginia in 1925. Attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute from 1937-1941. Awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor and Purple Heart during World War II. Collection includes photographs, clippings, citations, and papers collected by Lt. Col. John Coulter for his book on the six Medal of Honor winners who were students from Virginia Tech.
