Drum Major's Mace

Abstract

This Drum Major's Mace was previously owned by Ralph Edward Hughes and was possibly given to him by Sherman Edmond Seelinger. The mace is approxamately three feet long and is wrapped in orange and maroon ribbon, with excess ribbon hanging off of one end. On the opposite end of the mace is a rounded wooden top that has been painted gold.

Free France of World War II Flag on Pole

Abstract

This flag is for Free France, which represented the government-in-exile of Charles de Gaulle during World War II, when France was occupied. The flag is a tricolour of vertical band of blue, white, and red with a blue two-barred cross (aka Cross of Lorraine) on the white band. The flag is on a pole with blue, white, and red fabric strips wrapped around the top over a soft ball-style finial.

Maroon Corps of Cadet Sashes

Abstract This collection consists of two maroon sashes.One sash has satin edges with a cotton like fabric making up the body of the sash.The other sash is made of the same fabric but has adjustable snap buttons. On one end is 8 button snaps, and on the opposite end are only three button snaps. This allows for it to be buttoned based on size. This sash has an additional strip of maroon fabric on the front side. Notes attached to box items were found and read: "Corps...

Patterned Quilt

Abstract

The quilt is large and has a dark blue border around the edges and patterned squares. The sqaures are made up of various smaller squares of different patterned fabric. Some of the dark blue edges are lined with a different patterned fabric. The back of the quilt is one soild pattern with dark blue boarders. At the top of one end of the quilt is a white piece of fabric that would help when hanging the quilt on a wall. The main colors in the quilt are blue, red, green, and orange.
