This collection contains the correspondence of Nathan L. (1819-1909) and Sarah A. B. Lincoln Look (1826-1857), who settled in Virginia in the 1840s and lived in Loudoun, Botetourt, Montgomery, and Smyth counties. Correspondence with other members of the Lincoln and Look families in Massachusetts and New York; together with transcripts and summaries of the letters; and a few pieces of miscellanea.

J. C. Porter Photograph Album

Abstract

The J. C. Porter Photograph Album contains a scrapbook of approximately 240 photographs (all c. 1880) of structures and scenes in several southwestern Virginia counties, including Bland, Craig, Giles, and Smyth. It includes photographs of a Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad station in New Castle and Mountain Lake resort hotel. Photographs are believed to have been taken and compiled by Porter.

Henry Whitman Papers

This collections contains papers and letters addressed to Henry Whitman, the Justice of the Peace for Wythe County, Virginia, in the mid-1800s. Most documents contain information about different legal dispitutes and issues.
