Correspondence

The Blake W. Corson, Jr., Papers are comprised of professional and personal files, correspondence, and published materials from 1861-1984 (bulk, 1934-1979), primarily relating to his career as an engineer at NASA Langley. Topics include aerodynamic performance of aircraft propellers and manned aircraft; wind tunnel fans, jet noise suppression, and tunnel calibration. This collection is organized into five series by material type.

The David W. Sharpe Collection consists of letters written by Sharpe to his brother, William Sharpe, his mother and his sisters from October 10, 1860 to May 10, 1865. The collection also includes a cabinet card of Private David W. Sharpe and an 1862 CSA almanac found at Yorktown.

The collection consists of a three-page letter written December 5th, 1846, from Harriet of Sandy River Church, Virginia (a town in Prince Edward County) to "Miss Ruth H. Shootman, Big Lick, Roanoke, Va."

This collection contains papers from the Shugart Family of Southwest Virginia, created between 1811 and 1876.

The William Sneed Correspondence was written by William Sneed, who served in the 45th regiment, North Carolina infantry of the Confederate Army during the American Civil War. The correspondence contains two letters during the Civil War that were written to a friend and a Miss Alice, and a tax collection letter.

The Stephen Spender Papers includes correspondence to Stephen Wall, Graham Ackroyd, "Mr. Hamilton," and "Charles" and typescripts of poems, including "Middle East" and "Song."

This collection contains several series of materials: correspondence to and from Sherwood Anderson, correspondence and research files about Sherwood Anderson, and a small group of photographs, audio, video, and graphic art materials. Materials generated by Anderson date from 1918-1940. Other materials date from about 1929-2006.
