George Robert Sibold Collection

Abstract The George Robert Sibold Collection consists of a hat and a button. The hat is navy blue with a black leather brim. Tied onto buttons right above the brim is red cord. The buttons holding the red cord are gold with the V.P.I. seal on them. Embroidered on the front of the hat are two crossing sticks and the letters "V" above them and "AMU" below them.The button is an oval shape with a maroon border and orange center. Abstract The Lucie L. Gibboney Scrapbook contains dance cards, football programs, correspondence, dried flowers, ticket stubs, menus, photographs and other ephemera. Much of the materials relate to Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute (VPI) and the Town of Blacksburg, Virginia. Gibboney (1917-2007) probably collected these materials while visiting her future husband, James M. Graham, Jr. (1916-1976), a 1938 graduate of VPI, to document memories from their time...

William Gitt Journal

Abstract

This collection contains a journal kept from September through November 1912 by William Uncle Bill Gitt. Gitt was born in Newport, Virginia, and attended the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College from 1877 to 1878. Gitt later lived in the Number 1 Barracks on campus and worked at the college doing various tasks for the cadets.
