Abstract

This collection contains papers belonging to Merwin Leven (1929-2007) during his time as a student at Virginia Polytechnic Institute (V.P.I.) from 1948-1950, mostly related to the Corps of Cadets and other student organizations. Contents include club membership cards, V.P.I. military science question and answer sheets, a Company D guard detail sheet, a humorous Company G "delinquency sheet," and a printout of the December 1949 issue of "The Lord Reading Club News."

Lewis A. Hall Banjo and Case

Abstract

This four-stringed tenor banjo and case previously belonged to Lewis A. Hall, a member of the Collegians band in the 1920s. Handwritten on the banjo head is "THE COLLEGIANS" in black at the top, "VPI" in red across the center, and "BLACKSBURG, VA." in black on the bottom. The peghead identifies the brandname "Bruno."

Maroon Corps of Cadet Sashes

Abstract This collection consists of two maroon sashes.One sash has satin edges with a cotton like fabric making up the body of the sash.The other sash is made of the same fabric but has adjustable snap buttons. On one end is 8 button snaps, and on the opposite end are only three button snaps. This allows for it to be buttoned based on size.
