Abstract The Hoge Family was one of the earliest settlers of the New River area of southwest Virginia. William Edward Hoge and his family resided in Point Pleasant, Bland County Virginia, where William Hoge began his medicinal practice in 1855. Hoge was married to Jane L. This collection contains a letter from Levi Holbrook (1785-1872), a teacher and headmaster in Danville, Virginia, to his son Levi Holbrook, Jr., in Easthampton, Massachusetts. The letter dated July 2, 1851, discusses the health of Levi Holbrook and provides a variety of updates from Danville, including discussion about a man named Dr. Saunders murdering a man named A. S. Terry (or Jerry?) after a disagreement.

This scrapbook contains photographs and memorabilia dating 1918-1926 from United States Military Academy (West Point) and Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI) by Bertram A. Holtzworth, who attended VPI before graduating from West Point in 1927. He served in the U.S. Army from his time as a cadet at West Point until his retirement as Major General in 1963.
