Abstract

This collection contains an original cadet coatee from Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College (VAMC) dated 1886. The coat belonged to Greenwood Hopkins Nowlin, Jr. (1878-1975) of Campbell County, Virginia, who attended Virginia Agriculture and Mechanical College (now Virginia Tech) from 1896 through 1899.

Patterned Quilt

Abstract

The quilt is large and has a dark blue border around the edges and patterned squares. The sqaures are made up of various smaller squares of different patterned fabric. Some of the dark blue edges are lined with a different patterned fabric. The back of the quilt is one soild pattern with dark blue boarders. At the top of one end of the quilt is a white piece of fabric that would help when hanging the quilt on a wall. The main colors in the quilt are blue, red, green, and orange.

V.A.M.C. Cadet Coatee

Abstract

The collection contains a blue grey Cadet coatee from Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College. The material consists of wool and cotton lining with some tears in lining. Several buttons missing from the front of the coat. Remaining buttons are gold colored with "V.A.M.C." above the college's seal. Tag on the inside collar of the coat reads "D. Klein and Bro. Phildelphia" Tag stitched into the lining that reads "Donated by Corps Jan. 1975."

Abstract

The sweater is made up of a standard knit pattern, using maroon colored wool yarn. On the chest of the sweater it reads "1908," which has been sewn on in an orange fabric.

VPI Corps of Cadets Fabric Swatches

Abstract

The collection consists of three fabric swatches. Two of the swatches are about three inches wide and ten inches long. The other swatch is about four inches wide and eight inches long. All three swatches are the same navy blue fabric with rough cut edges.

Abstract The hat is made of a black fabric with a small black leather bill. On the top of the hat is a structured circle, while the rest is unstructured. Abstract The VT Men's Basketball collection consists of Delwyn Dillard's basketball uniform and a NIT t-shirt. The basketball uniform consists of two parts, a jersey and shorts.
