Abstract This collection contains Virginia Polytechnic Institute memorabilia from Claibourne Walton Beattie, Sr. (1896-1971), class of 1919, and his son Claibourne Walton Beattie, Jr. (1923-1978), class of 1951. Abstract This collection consists of a cape, sabre, and pipe. The cape is made of wool/wool felt and is navy blue with a red lining. Across the chest there are black cord frogs that connect on the exterior. At the collar there are two metal hooks. Silver "VA TECH" Belt Buckles

Abstract

This collection consists of two Virginia Tech belt buckles. The larger buckle is a silver belt buckle that says "VA. TECH." The back is inscribed "The Pettibone Mfg. Co. Cin'ti.O." The smaller silver belt buckle says, in small caps, "VA TECH".

VPI Locket and Chain

Abstract

This locket is shaped like a heart. The front has a yellow-green chevron background and painted with two pink roses and green leaves. Attached under the roses is circular metal embossed with the seal of VPI and a red circle with the words "Virginia Polytechnic Institute" inside.

Abstract

This bronze medal has a handle at the top, probably for attaching to a ribbon. The front is embossed with a laurel wreath at the bottom. In the center are the letters VPI intertwined and painted orange and maroon.

VPI Prom Bangle Bracelet

Abstract

The bracelet is a sterling silver, cuff-style bangle with hammered texture (planishing?). A black metal piece is attached in the center. It has an eagle above a ribbon that says "Virginia Polytechnic Institute". Under the ribbon are two flags and a shield that says "Junior Senior Prom 1933-1934".
