This collection contains the papers of Dayton M. Kohler (1906-1972), a professor of English at Virginia Tech and an authority on modern American literature. Abstract Lucy Lee Lancaster was born in Blacksburg, Virginia in 1905 and lived there until she died in 1989. She was one of the first women admitted to Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute (popularly known as VPI), and after graduating in 1925, she went on to earn her MLS from Columbia University Library School. Frank J. Maher (1915-1995) was an engineer specializing in aerodynamic research and taught Engineering Science and Mechanics at Virginia Tech from 1937 to 1978. The collection consists of consulting files for wind tunnel research on a number of projects and extensive correspondence with David B. Steinman, engineer and bridge designer.
