Peeva, Maria Georgieva
Biographical Note
Maria Peeva was born on August 8, 1954 in the town of Shumen, Bulgaria. She graduated from Sofia Polytechnic in 1977 and was assigned to work at the Design Organization in the town of Schumen, where she led the design section from 1980-1989. Peeva was named Chief Architect of the Boloslav Region (1988-2000) and Regional Architect of the Black Sea tourist region (2000-2006).
Peeva was able to move to Varna in 1989, and while still carrying the appointments listed above, opened a private practice (1991) in partnership with another female architect, Natalia Liutskanova. Liutskanova left the practice in 1993.
Maria Peeva has won competitions for school designs around Shumen and vacation homes on the Black Sea Shore near Varna. Over her career she has built numerous hotels, vacation houses, and retail stores.
She has a younger sister, Rositsa Peeva-Popova, also an architect.

Maria Peeva is a Bulgarian architect known particularly for designing schools, vacation houses, hotels, and retail stores. Her collection includes a curriculum vitae, project lists, and renderings/construction drawings for two projects: workers vacation retreat for the Shumen Chemical Factory "Volov" (1979) and vacation houses in the Village of Rogachevo, Balchik County (near Varna, 2005).
