This collection consists of a letter written by Edward Travis Clark, a student at the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College (now Virginia Tech). Dated June 4, 1875, the letter is addressed to "Willie" (Wm. B. Sims, of Alexandria, Virginia). Clark discusses his recent illness, the lapse in his studies, and his plan to recuperate in the mountains over the summer. He also mentions the recent death of a mutual acquaintance, Jake Adkisson. The letter is written on stationery bearing the letterhead "Clark & Farant, Room No. 6 over the Meachanical Department, Va. A. & M. College," and is accompanied by a stamped envelope with a printed return address: "E. T. Clark, V. A. & M. College, Blacksburg, Va."
