Abstract

The Turner Family Papers consists of multiple sets of correspondence to members of generations of the extended Turner family written between 1830 and 1944. The bulk of the collection is letters between Lexie Fox and his wife, Bessie, written during World War I.

William B. Turner Papers

Abstract

The William B. Turner Papers include a memoir about the Battle of the Wilderness in 1864, discharge and other military papers, correspondence, and family papers. Turner (1834-1912) served during the American Civil War in the Union Army with the 27th New York Light Battery, or the Buffalo Light Battery Company. Following his service, he worked as a printer in Buffalo.

Abstract

Pioneer Day was celebrated on June 9, 1982, at the National Computer Conference in honor of the 25th anniversary of the delivery of the first FORTRAN compiler. As part of the celebration IBM created and displayed this exhibit. Materials include photographs of FORTRAN pioneers, facsimiles of documents, textual analysis, flow charts, memorabilia, FORTRAN manuals and other publications, and a twelve-minute videotape on the history of FORTRAN.

Letter from Cyril H. Tyler (1841-1913) of Kalamazoo, Michigan, a sergeant in Company I, 7th Michigan Infantry during the American Civil War, written to his father following the Battle of Seven Pines and referring to skirmishes with the enemy, Rebel sharpshooters, and crossing the Chickahominy River.
