The collection contains a journal of events occurring during the Gloucester, Massachusetts Artillery's tour of camp duty in 1845.

The collection contains letters to William S. Archer discussing his election as delegate to the July 1849 convention of the Virginia and Tennessee Railroad Company. Correspondence also discusses the plan to connect the Atlantic and Pacific oceans via railroads.

Charles L. C. Minor Cash Book and Edward P. Harmon Civil War Diary Collection
The collection contains a Civil War-era cash book of Captain Charles L. C. Minor, Confederate Army ordnance officer and first president of Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College (1872-1879). Also contains diary entries of Union Army Private Edward P. Harmon, 5th Maine Infantry, for May-June 1864. Accompanied by research materials on the two soldiers (including maps, muster rolls, and pension notes) and a complete photocopy of the cash book/diary.
Wythe County, Virginia, Soldier Benefit Receipts,
The collection contains four receipts from Wythe County [Virginia] Court for funds paid to the families of 3 soldiers: William Ayers, Andrew Aker, and Wiliam Landers.
John R. Baldwin Letter,
The collection consists of a letter from John R. Baldwin, possibly to a wife or girlfriend, writing of his love for her.
Bobby Foushee Collection,
The collection includes yearbook photos of Foushee; receipt from purchase of 1956 Bugle, and a letter and envelope. The letter is missing the bottom third, but appears to be from the Civilian Student Body and is addressed to "Dear Senator."
A. E. F. Price Certificates,
The collection includes three certificates awarded to A. F. Price for "distinguished" work in his examinations at Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College.

The Lucy Herndon Crockett Papers consists of type and manuscript versions of some of Crockett's published and unpublished novels, her illustrations and art for her publications, and a small group of personal papers and papers about her. Materials date from about 1940 to 2015.
