U.S. Army Medical Officer's Hat

Abstract

This hat belonged to Major Adam Tyree Finch, (VPI class of 1893 and Professor 1898-1900) when serving in the Virginia Volunteers. Decorations on the brim denotes his rank as a Major and the maroon band around the hat denotes Medical Unit.

V.A.M.C. Cadet Coatee

Abstract

The collection contains a blue grey Cadet coatee from Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College. The material consists of wool and cotton lining with some tears in lining. Several buttons missing from the front of the coat. Remaining buttons are gold colored with "V.A.M.C." above the college's seal. Tag on the inside collar of the coat reads "D. Klein and Bro. Phildelphia" Tag stitched into the lining that reads "Donated by Corps Jan. 1975."

Abstract The Virginia Tech Academic Regalia collection includes: a gown, hat, and hood. The hat is black with a yellow tassel. On the inside of the hat it reads "Oak Hall Cap and Gown Co. Roanoke, Virginia, 7 5/8 in front of cap." The condition is good, some discoloration on inside. The gown is black and made of cotton. There are black velvet stripes on either side of the opening. There are also three black velvet stripes on each sleeve, and velvet stripes that come to a point...

Virginia Tech "Rat" Belt

Abstract

The belt is made of a cream colored fabric with a metal belt buckle and belt hook. Hand written near the buckle and hook is "1952." In the center of the belt is "LAST RAT BELT 52/ALL BAND COMAPNY JUNE '4' 1949." written in pen. There are various other hand written phrases and signatures on belt.

VPI Cadet Cape

Abstract The VPI Cadet Cape is navy blue with a red lining, made of wool felt and a wool lining. It has a black cord frog on exterior that connects on both sides. There is also two metal hooks on the collar. Each side has what appears to be a pocket, only after looking closer do you realize the “pockets” are holes to the inside of the cape. Abstract

This cape has a dark navy blue exterior with a red lining and black collar. There is a single blue metal clasp on the collar of the cape and a black cord frog just below the collar. The bottom of the exterior and lining have been hemmed under. There in an interior pocket in the red lining.

VPI Cape

Abstract

This VPI Cape is made of a navy blue wool and red wool lining. There is a single hook clasp on the collar and just below the hook is a black cord loop. Above the hook and under the collar is a separate piece of material which can fasten to buttons on the underside of the right and or left collar. When these are fastened the collar stands straight up. Across the chest is a black frog cord. Stitching is present where it is assumed a label once was, no labels are present.

VPI Corps of Cadets Fabric Swatches

Abstract

The collection consists of three fabric swatches. Two of the swatches are about three inches wide and ten inches long. The other swatch is about four inches wide and eight inches long. All three swatches are the same navy blue fabric with rough cut edges.
