Biographical Note

John H. Squires was a native a North Carolina and later worked there as a banker. Squires was educated at Virginia Tech (B.S., Agriculture, 1905; M.S., 1906) and later attended Cornell University (Ph.D., 1909). Squires died March 14, 1934.

The collection contains papers relating to Squires' will, with affidavits, notes regarding stocks, and correspondence. Correspondence with Julian Burruss indicates Squires donated money to Virginia Polytechnic Institute at the time of his death. The collection also includes a copy of his will with supporting documentation.

The processing, arrangement, and description of the John H. Squires Papers was completed prior to 2011. Additional description was completed in March 2011.
