It was created as a showcase of the work done between 1978 and 1988 by women currently then in practice in the United States. The scope of this exhibit was to "illustrate the strength and diversity of women's current contribution to the architectural profession through architecture, urban design and planning, landscape architecture, computer applications, preservation, historical analysis, criticism, renderings, and research".
