Scope and Content

The Arthur Hills Warden Collection includes a memorial plate, V.P.I insignia, 1910 commencement program, V.P.I pin, two small V.P.I buttons, small V.P.I. pin with insignia (broken), and Virginia Tech metal tag.

The memorial plate is maroon with a gold rim, with the V.P.I seal in the center in white, gold, and maroon. The back of the plate has a piece of tape with archivist notes as well as a stamp with a seal that reads "SEMI-VITREOUS." The plate is in good condition.

The V.P.I pin is gold in color and reads "V.P.I." in bold letters. It is in good condition, minor discoloration.

The 1910 commencement program is from June 10-15 and is leather bound. A hole has been cut from the first page, otherwise in good condition. A small orange felt V.P.I. flag is tucked into the booklet.

The V.P.I insignia is gold in color with a small screw on the backside. It reads "V.P.I." at the top with two wreath motifs on the sides, seal in the middle. The condition is good.

The buttons are both gold in color and round in shape. One button reads "V.P.I." with stacked lettering, while the other shows a solider design. Both in good condition.

The small V.P.I. insignia is on a web like base with a small circle in the center that shows the V.P.I. seal. The pin has broken off, otherwise in good condition.

The metal tag is silver in color and square in shape with a small slit at the top. The tag reads "VIRGINIA TECH 1910." The condition is good, some discoloration.

Biographical Note

Arthur Hills Warden graduated from VPI in 1910. He was born in Staunton, Virginia on July 21st 1888 to Chas W. Warden and Mary A. Warden.
