Administrative History

Arquitectas da nossa Casa (Architects of Our Home) is an organization and multi-year project that seeks to document and elevate the contributions of Portuguese women to the built environment. "Todos os nomes," or "all the names," is the foundational text and mission statement for the organizing committee, which was formed by six practicing female architects from the Central Region of Portugal in 2024. The "todos os nomes" mission is to increase the visibility of all Portuguese women's work in architecture by surveying, gathering, and showcasing that work in a series of events and exhibitions.

Members of the organizing committee include: Mariana Santos Martins, Cátia Ramos, Cláudia Santos Silva, Liliana Moniz, Rita Coutinho, and Sofia Carvalho Araújo.

Abstract

The Arquitectas da Nossa Casa Records consist of 2,327 electronic files (11.29 Gb) representing the work of the Arquitectas da Nossa Casa Committee from 2024 to 2026 on a series of exhibitions and events highlighting the work of Portuguese women architects. The files document the committee's activities, the work and submissions of individual participants, and the resulting exhibitions and lectures.

Arrangement

The files are in their original order, as organized and described by the Arquitectas da Nossa Casa committee. Some light editing of directory and file names has occurred for clarity and preservation. Otherwise the hierarchival arrangement in the finding aid is entirely based on the directory structure of the shared files. The files are arranged into the following categories:

I. Admin and Curatorial

II. Calls and Participant Submissions

III. Graphic Design

IV. Exhibition Scenography and Production

V. Cultural Programming

VI. Publishing Media and Research

Because the directory structure is deeply nested, in most cases description is not listed down to the individual file level. A sub-directory including participants' names is fully listed in series II in order to increase the discoverability of the women who participated in the exhibition.
