Abstract This historical map of Augusta County, Virginia, was compiled from maps, historical records, and traditions by J. R. Hildebrand, who copyrighted the historical map in 1933. Created in 1933, the map includes historical information from 1732-1832. It contains a brief history of the county surrounding the map, and on the map are identified locations for incidents of historical interest. The map is bordered by a list of names of men who, presumably, lived in the county. The bottom left corner...

Abstract

The James Anthony Letter is written by James Anthony in Buchanan, Virginia, on August 2, 1850, to Colonel James A. Pipen in Wytheville, Virginia. Anthony describes a job offer from the James River Company and his resignation from his job working for Colonel Pipen, shows admiration for his employer, and offers a replacement for his position.
