Solitude Photographs and Papers
Historic home of Blacksburg, Virginia, built by the Preston family in the early 1800s. Purchased by the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College (now Virginia Tech) in 1872, and remains the oldest building on campus. Photographs consist of thirty-four mounted photographs from Eleanor Stover McEver's collection of various views and details of Solitude, with identifying labels. Also includes other papers, such as newspaper clippings and postcards, with information about Solitude.

Talking About Work Oral History Interview Project,
Oral history interviews conducted by students of Dr. Emily Satterwhite's HUM 2504 Introduction to American Studies class with interviewees who work on or near the Virginia Tech campus. Interviews explore the particular jobs of the interviewees and the issues related to working for these interviewees. The collection also contains annotated bibliographies and reflections papers created by students about their interview experience. There are images of some of the interviewees.
Clarence Trent Papers
The Trent papers contain materials dealing with his activities in the ASME, the Lutheran Campus Ministry at VPI, and engineering education. Further biographical information on Trent may be found in Folder 1 and 27, the latter of which deals with the Distinguished Alumnus Certificate which Bluefield College awarded him in 1986.
Virginia Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (VAEOPP) Records,
The collections is organized into seven series: Board and Administrative Records, Conference Material, Membership Material, Correspondence, Newsletters and Other Publications, Miscellaneous Material, and Media. The collection includes, but is not limited to: meeting minute and agendas, committee reports, conference planning documents and programs, forms, organizational correspondence, membership lists, publications, and memorabilia.
Virginia Mineral Resources
Map shows locations for mineral resources throughout the state of Virginia. It contains an additional map that shows the physiographic layout of the state. Additional information includes the following: descriptions of various soil properties, mineral industries and their locations, ground water qualities, and mineral production, in percentage distribution and in chronological increase.
Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University Postal Card Collection
This collection includes eighty postcards. Dated cards range from 1906 through 1995, but many cards are not dated. Cards depict various subjects including campus views, campus buildings, football, Corps of Cadets, and Blacksburg views. Some of the postcards are postmarked and addressed to recipients, while some are blank.
Virginia Tech April 16, 2007 Archives of the University Libraries
The Virginia Tech April 16, 2007 Archives of the University Libraries consists mainly of condolence items received by the university in the wake of April 16, 2007 in which 32 faculty and students were killed. The subseries organization is by type of item. The bulk of materials were received in the first few months following April 16, 2007. There also is a very small series with items specifically sent to or relating to those killed, which is organized alphabetically by name.
