The collection contains the papers of Manley Morrison Caldwell, an attorney in Wytheville and Roanoke, Virginia, and his law partner and father-in-law, James A. Walker, consisting largely of Caldwell's professional legal and business papers and documents gathered and created by him in the course of acting as the executor of Walker's will.

Walker regarding his experiences in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire, as well as a copy of a newspaper clipping about J. Ernest Walker's real estate business. The collection also includes a photocopy of an image of Col. John E. Walker and photograph and obituary of George W. Walker.

Nelson S. Walker Letter

Abstract This is a letter written by Lieutenant Nelson S. Walker of F Company, 2nd Battalion Mississippi Infantry from Camp Magruder in Yorktown, Virginia, to his cousin, D. G. Walker in Mississippi. He describes the units movements from Richmond to defensive positions on the Virginia Peninsula in preparation for upcoming engagements that will be known as the Peninsula Campaign in the spring and summer of 1862. In 1861, Walker enlisted in the local Claiborne Volunteers for the Confederate States....
