Scope and Content From the Collection:

This collection contains photographs, newspaper clippings, and several other papers containing information about Solitude. The photographs in this collection inculde 34 mounted photographs showing multiple views and details of Solitude. This collection also includes a copy of Virginia Cavalcade from Autumn 1976, a publication created by Virginia Tech, and two newspaper clippings about Solitude and the Duckpond.

Scope and Content From the Collection:

The Adolph Samuel Bair Photographs were taken on the campus of the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute (VPI) during the 1920s. The photographs depict Bair, the campus, and the VPI Corps of Cadets.

Scope and Content From the Collection: The collection includes 7 photographs showing U.S. Army Air Corps bombers and group bombing exercises. The photographs were taken during inspection and training exercises based out of Langely Field, near Hampton, Virginia, during March and April 1928. Scope and Contents From the Collection: The papers consist of photographs, correspondence, awards and certificates, newspaper clippings, files, and other literature almost exclusively from Vaughan's tour of duty (1941-44) in Iceland and Europe during World War II, and his involvement in the U.S. Army Reserve in the late 1940s and 1950s.Of special interest are copies of correspondence between Vaughan and George Washington Carver, which run from 1928 to 1942.
