This subseries contains photographic prints and negatives of images created by Howard Avery while a student at VPI. Most of the photographs were taken while he was the Photographic Editor of the 1927 Bugle.

Scope and Content From the Collection: The collection primarily consists of Lilia Sofer Skala's work as a student of architecture at the University of Dresden from 1915 to 1920. The student work includes architectural drawings, ink and charcoal sketches, and watercolor paintings. This subseries contains photographs and digital images sent to Virginia Tech following the events of April 16, 2007. Groups and individuals are pictured, for example, wearing Virginia Tech colors, holding a memorial service, or raising money for the Hokie Spirit Fund. Other subseries may include photographs.

Major subjects present include: Altrusa meetings; Pettersen's barn/studio and pets; Pettersen's travels to visit friends; parties/gatherings; house models; Taliesin West Half Century celebration; and a visit to Frank Lloyd Wright's Grand Waikapu Country Club in Maui, Hawaii.

Scope and Content From the Collection: Holliday's diaries, the first covering 1 May through 8 August 1864 and the second covering 1 September 1864 through 4 July 1865, begin with the regiment's entry into Virginia's New River Valley and conclude with his return to Ohio at the conclusion of the war. Holliday includes information on his participation in action in and around the New River Valley, including the battles of Cloyd's Mountain and New River Bridge.
