Abstract

A collection of 41 framed photographs having to do with the aftermath of the April 16, 2007 shootings. Photographers were community members who submitted images to be considered for an exhibition at Squires' Perspective Gallery in April 2008. Collection also includes additional digital images not framed for the show.

Abstract

The Polly Ashelman Collection on the John McLaren McBryde Family, Ms 2019-017, contains items from former VPI President McBryde. Before becoming the fifth president of the university, McBryde attended South Carolina College, the University of Virginia, and served in the confederate army. McBryde recieved medals from South Carolina College and UVA as well as gifts during his presidency which are included in this collection.

Howard S. Avery Papers

Abstract Howard S. Avery graduated from Virginia Tech in 1927 with a B.S. in Mining and Engineering. He worked for the American Brake Shoe Company, later known as the Abex Corporation, as a research metallurgist from 1935 to 1971. The collection consists of Avery's personal papers and photographs related to his student days at Virginia Tech, including photos taken mainly in 1927 while Avery was the photographic editor of the Bugle yearbook. Abstract

The Adolph Samuel Bair Photographs were taken on the campus of the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute (VPI) during the 1920s. The photographs depict Bair, the campus, and the VPI Corps of Cadets. Bair (1902-1988) graduated from VPI in 1924.
