In this oral history interview, Elmore discusses her struggle with depression, the transition process, playing on a Roller Derby team, coming out at work and gaining acceptance in a blue collar Appalachian community. The interview was recorded on October 24, 2014 in Major Williams Hall on the Virginia Tech campus. Ellen Boggs was the interviewer and David Atkins was the technical assistant.
O'Shaughnessy Family Papers
This collection consists of papers--including correspondence, schoolwork, diplomas, diaries, photographs, and printed materials--of Louis O'Shaughnessy, professor of mathematics at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VPI); his wife Ida Surface O'Shaughnessy; their daughter, VPI mathematics instructor Betty O'Shaughnessy Bock; and the Surface family (parents and siblings of Ida Surface O'Shaughnessy).

The collection contains 1903 to 1905 letters from Louis O'Shaughnessy to his future wife, Ida Surface, and one letter from O'Shaughnessy to G. T. Surface.

This collection contains papers of William MacFarland Patton, civil engineer and professor at Virginia Agricultural & Mechanical College (now Virginia Tech). It includes a partial draft of Patton's book, A Practical Treatise on Foundations and draft of an unpublished textbook on civil engineering, together with patent documentation for two inventions.
Charles K. Payne Papers
This collection consists of a letter from Payne to Walter S. Newman, VPI President (1947-1962), a letter from Newman to Miss Elizabeth Woolwine in the library, and a completed questionnaire regarding VAMC in the 1870s and 1880s.
