Cadet Uniform Hardware and Insignia

Abstract The Cadet Uniform Hardware and Insignia collection consists of various donations of hardware and insignias. Five identicial gold V.A.M.C. buttons belonged to Frank H. Terry and are from 1877-1879. In the center of the buttons is the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College seal. William Addison Caldwell Collection

Abstract

Papers associated with William Addison "Add" Caldwell (1856-1910) of Craig County, Virginia, first student enrolled at Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College (VAMC, later Virginia Tech). Includes a letter written by Caldwell in 1910; his 1875 VAMC report card; a Caldwell family photo portrait; Caldwell's obituary; and a Bible given to Caldwell by Mrs. William C. McKemey.

Samuel Edwin Carnahan Diploma

Abstract

Samuel Edwin Carnahan (1884-1970) graduated from Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College and Polytechnic Institute (VPI) in 1907 with a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. The collection contains his 1907 VPI diploma, signed by VPI president John McBryde and the Board of Visitors.

C. Hunter Carpenter Collection

Abstract

This collection contains a packet of material assembled to nominate C. Hunter Carpenter, a Virginia Tech graduate, for the National Football Hall of Fame (today known as the College Football Hall of Fame). It includes photostatic copies of biographical information, photographs and letters from teammates and opposing players, including Charles D. Daly, J. Ambler Johnston, John R. Hutcheson, and George C. Marshall.

Abstract The Charles Kirk Collection consists of two slide rulers, a slide ruler book and a mechanical drawing set. The larger slide ruler is housed inside a black case with a button closure.
