The collection consists of a flyer containing amendment to the charter of the Roanoke and Southern Railway Company, ratified by the North Carolina General Assembly in 1893.

Civil War Letter
The collection contains a letter written to the editor of a newspaper, Major Harper, by Maria S. encouraging ladies of Raymond and vicinity
to contribute to efforts to sew undergarments, stockings, and mattresses for soldiers serving in the American Civil War. Also includes coversheet which has West Point April 20, 1863
written on it.
Scott County, Virginia Amnesty Oath Register
The collection contains a ledger listing men, mostly from Scott County, Virginia, including name, age, occupation and residence. It is believed to be list of men to whom the amnesty oath was administered following the American Civil War.
Mary Kelly Letter
The collection contains a letter written to Mary Kelly by an unidentified Union soldier of the 10th Iowa Infantry during the American Civil War. Letter describes an ambush by Confederate soldiers that killed five men and wounded eight.
William N. Curry Letter
The collection contains letters from a Confederate soldier, William N. Curry to his two brothers, Alpheus and Harry, during the American Civil War. The letters are written on the same page. Letters discusses camp life in Pocataligo, South Carolina. Curry discusses seeing Yankee ships run aground and set on fire to prevent the Confederates taking the cargo.
John W. Fairfax Letters
The collection includes letters from a New Orleans stock broker, John W. Fairfax, to Confederate General James Longstreet. The first is a request for a recommendation for Lawson L. Davis, a conferate veteran who was applying for a paymastership in the Army. The second letter speaks of personal business matters and mentions Bradstreet's impaired vision and new marriage.
USS Pittsburg Paymaster's Ledger
The collection contains a U.S. Navy paymaster's ledger, believed to be from the USS Pittsburg, a Union Navy gunboat during the American Civil War. Also includes a single sheet officers' pay roll, dated 1866, believed to be from the USS Shawmut.
William H. Collier Ledger
The collection contains a farm and household expense ledger of William H. Collier of Northampton County, North Carolina.
