VPI Cadet Cape

Abstract The VPI Cadet Cape is navy blue with a red lining, made of wool felt and a wool lining. It has a black cord frog on exterior that connects on both sides. There is also two metal hooks on the collar. Each side has what appears to be a pocket, only after looking closer do you realize the “pockets” are holes to the inside of the cape. VPI Cape

Abstract

This cape has a dark navy blue exterior with a red lining and black collar. There is a single blue metal clasp on the collar of the cape and a black cord frog just below the collar. The bottom of the exterior and lining have been hemmed under. There in an interior pocket in the red lining.

VPI Cape

Abstract

This VPI Cape is made of a navy blue wool and red wool lining. There is a single hook clasp on the collar and just below the hook is a black cord loop. Above the hook and under the collar is a separate piece of material which can fasten to buttons on the underside of the right and or left collar. When these are fastened the collar stands straight up. Across the chest is a black frog cord. Stitching is present where it is assumed a label once was, no labels are present.

VPI Class Pin

Abstract

This VPI class pin is a shield painted half blue and half white with a bottom border of white beads and inscribed in gold "V.P.I. '03" (or possibly "V.P.I. '08"). The top border is a gold eagle holding two crossed swords.

VPI Corps of Cadets Belt Buckle

Abstract

This bronze VPI Corps of Cadets belt buckle (n.d.) given to Henry Wiss by Nelson Price is engraved with an eagle holding arrows and an olive branch in its talons and a banner in its beak that reads "E PLURIBUS UNUM" over its head. The eagle has a shield on its torso and stars and stripes radiate around it. There is a silver-colored laurel branch on the buckle under the eagle.

VPI Corps of Cadets Fabric Swatches

Abstract

The collection consists of three fabric swatches. Two of the swatches are about three inches wide and ten inches long. The other swatch is about four inches wide and eight inches long. All three swatches are the same navy blue fabric with rough cut edges.

This is a 1.25 inch pink pin inscribed with "V.P.I." Helmet and football pendants are attached with cords.

VPI Hat

Abstract The hat is made of a black fabric with a small black leather bill. On the top of the hat is a structured circle, while the rest is unstructured. On both sides of the cap are two small black grommet holes. On the front of the hat above the bill there are two guns embroidered in gold thread with "V.P.I" above them. VPI Locket and Chain

Abstract

This locket is shaped like a heart. The front has a yellow-green chevron background and painted with two pink roses and green leaves. Attached under the roses is circular metal embossed with the seal of VPI and a red circle with the words "Virginia Polytechnic Institute" inside.
