Minnie A. Baughman Commonplace Book
The collection consists of a commonplace book owned by Minnie Baughman of Richmond, Virginia. Mary Amelia Baughman, known as "Minnie," was the daughter of George and Mary Jane Greer Baughman and sister of Confederate soldiers, George, Jr., Greer H., Charles C., and Emilius A. Baughman. The book dates from November 1864 to July 1865 and contains Minnie's algebra work, French vocabulary, grammar, and a large amount of poetry and Confederate patriotic songs.
Bedford Springs, Pennsylvania, Civil War Letter
Letter written by "Aunt Hetty" (or Netty) at Bedford [Pennsylvania] on August 26, 1861, and addressed to "My dear John," relaying personal and local news, including the presence of Confederate Colonel [John] Pegram, recuperating at the local springs.
Black, Kent, and Apperson Family Papers
This collection contains the papers and artifacts of an interrelated family prominent in Blacksburg's history. It includes the Civil War letters of Confederate surgeon Dr. Harvey Black, the Civil War diary of hospital steward John S. Apperson, cotton books and correspondence of Germanicus Kent, nineteenth-century account books of a Blacksburg general store, 1912 European travel diary, and the political scrapbooks of State Senator and Attorney General Harvey B. Apperson.
