This subseries contains photographic prints and negatives of images created by Howard Avery while a student at VPI. Most of the photographs were taken while he was the Photographic Editor of the 1927 Bugle.

Scope and Content From the Collection: The collection primarily consists of Lilia Sofer Skala's work as a student of architecture at the University of Dresden from 1915 to 1920. The student work includes architectural drawings, ink and charcoal sketches, and watercolor paintings. The collection also consists of biographical information including copies of Skala's academic records, printed material about the architectural program at the University of Dresden at the turn of the century, articles by and about Skala, and press...

This subseries contains photographs and digital images sent to Virginia Tech following the events of April 16, 2007. Groups and individuals are pictured, for example, wearing Virginia Tech colors, holding a memorial service, or raising money for the Hokie Spirit Fund. Other subseries may include photographs.

This subseries was arranged alphabetically by donor name. The donor may or may not be the creator of the item.

The subseries photographs/slides are divided further into Family Portraits and Photographs, Miscellaneous. The miscellaneous photographs are mostly unidentified snapshots. Major subjects present include: Altrusa meetings; Pettersen's barn/studio and pets; Pettersen's travels to visit friends; parties/gatherings; house models; Taliesin West Half Century celebration; and a visit to Frank Lloyd Wright's Grand Waikapu Country Club in Maui, Hawaii.

The collection consists of several black and white photographs from the Virginian Railway Company. Subjects include railway tracks in the winter, workers, and equipment.

Scope and Content From the Collection: The collection includes 7 photographs showing U.S. Army Air Corps bombers and group bombing exercises. The photographs were taken during inspection and training exercises based out of Langely Field, near Hampton, Virginia, during March and April 1928.
