V.A.M.C. Cadet Coatee

Abstract

The collection contains a blue grey Cadet coatee from Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College. The material consists of wool and cotton lining with some tears in lining. Several buttons missing from the front of the coat. Remaining buttons are gold colored with "V.A.M.C." above the college's seal. Tag on the inside collar of the coat reads "D. Klein and Bro. Phildelphia" Tag stitched into the lining that reads "Donated by Corps Jan. 1975."

Abstract The Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College diploma printing plate is a gold/copper hued metal and is mounted on a wooden frame. At the top of the plate is the college's seal, followed by text in reverse in the middle, and two crossed rifles at the bottom of the plate. Surrounding the college's seal is text stating "Virgina Argricultural and Mechanical College." Vaughan, Jr. (1906-1990) and consist of photographs, correspondence, awards and certificates, newspaper clippings, files, and other literature almost exclusively from Vaughan's tour of duty (1941-1944) in Iceland and Europe during World War II, and his involvement in the U.S. Army Reserve in the late 1940s and 1950s. Abstract

The collection include photographs, slides, negatives, and audiotapes from Virginia 4-H State Shows, State Fairs, and other events throughout the state. 4-H programs began in Virginia in 1908, and since then, the Virginia Cooperative Extension, Virginia Tech, and Virginia State University have hosted the Virginia 4-H Horse Program, which emphasizes equine selection, nutrition, management, riding, and horsemanship.
