Born in Dresden in 1943, Kerstin Dörhöfer (also Dorhofer) received her architecture degree in 1969 from the Technical University of Berlin, where she earned her doctoral degree. In 1979 Dörhöfer formed an organization for women's studies at the Free University of Berlin. Since 1986, Dörhöfer has taught at the University of Arts in Berlin.
