Abstract

This hat belonged to Major Adam Tyree Finch, (VPI class of 1893 and Professor 1898-1900) when serving in the Virginia Volunteers. Decorations on the brim denotes his rank as a Major and the maroon band around the hat denotes Medical Unit.

Abstract

This collection contains administrative letters, meeting minutes, and reports from the Boards of Vistors of Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI) during Guy L. Furr's (1895-1977) tenure 1954 to 1964. It also contains materials from several organizations that he was a part of, such as VPI Alumni Association, VPI Educational Foundational, and VPI Continuing Education Program. This collection includes miscellaneous pamphlets and booklets about VPI and other universities in Virginia.

This collection contains a minute book belonging to the Pittsylvania Club, which was founded in 1894 at Virginia Agrivultural and Mechanical College. The minutes primarily include information about the election of new members and the election of officers.

The otoscope is housed in a black box with a black plastic button closure. The interior of the box is lined with a green velvet that has ridges to hold various parts of the tool. Inside is seven components of the otoscope. On the interior of the lid of the box is a green ribbon the reads "IMPROVED PREFECTION ELECTRIC AURISCOPE ILLINOIS SURGICAL SUPPLY COMPANY 10 S. WELLS ST. CHICAGO, ILLINOIS."

This collection includes a wooden plaque that reads "1888 VPI LANE HALL VA TECH" with a nail glued on to the bottom left. The plaque was created in 1996 from wood in the Lane Hall cupola. The wood was used in the erection of the building in 1888, when it was known as Barracks No. 1.

Abstract The James William McClelland V.P.I. Tableware collection consists of one small plate, one medium sized plate, and a tea/coffee cup. The small plate is white with a maroon wreath in the center. In the middle of the wreath in yellow is a "VPI" overlapping letter logo with two crossing guns beneath it. Abstract

The Virginia Tech Cross stitch is mounted on cardboard with staples, the edges of the fabric sealed with tape. The base of the cross stitch is done in a cream color, with a maroon and orange Virginia Tech seal in the center. Some of the details of the seal are stitched in green, yellow, grey, and cream. Around the seal is text that reads "VIRGINIA POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE AND STATE UNIVERSITY." In maroon stitching in the bottom right hand corner is the text "THW '70."
