Abstract

This collection contains records of Theodorick Pryor Campbell, the dean of the college at Virginia Tech from 1920-1924. This collection consists primarily of correspondence with faculty, educational organizations, parents, presidents Julian A. Burruss and J. D. Eggleston, students, and government entities. Subjects include advertising, budget, disciplinary matters, hazing, and land purchases. Some correspondence dates to 1917-1919 when Campbell was Dean of the Faculty.

Carolina Rifles Coatee

Abstract This collection consists of a Caroline Rifles coatee possibly from c. 1861-1865. The coatee is a blue grey color and made of wool with a possibly quilted wool lining. The coatee has gold buttons with palmetto trees and "S.C." The back skirt is split in half with three buttons on each side and a black stripe under each button. The hood is black with a red, sliver, and white lining. A tag on the lining near the neck of the hood reads "THE C.E. WARD CO. NEW LONDON, OHIO 3."

The robe is also black in color with dark blue velvet strip details down the front and on the sleeves. A tag inside of the robe reads "R.J.H. INTERCOLLEGIATE BUREAU COTRELLS LEONARD ALBANY, NNY. U.S.A. MAKERS OF THE CAPS, GOWNS AND HOODS TO THE AMERICAN COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES."
